1 syllable vowel+consonant--> big - bigger
1 syllable (not vowel+consonant) --> long - longer
1 syllable ending in -e --> nice - nicer
2 syllables ending in -y --> heavy - heavier
2 syllables or more --> beautiful - more beautiful
Exceptions --> good - better bad (malament) - worse far (lluny) - further
